The event attracted the participation of 1,000 students from different universities in HCM City, business representatives and the former Vietnamese Ambassador to the EU, Ms Ton Nu Thi Ninh.
At the event, President Obama delivered a speech on critical topics identified by youth in the region including civic engagement, environment and natural resources management, and entrepreneurship and economic development.
Especially, he emphasized that Fulbright University Vietnam is expected to operate this autumn so that Vietnamese students can get access to the international standard education. Obama also underlined the importance of developing English-language training programs in the country.

Launched in 2013, the YSEALI is US President Obama's signature program to strengthen leadership development and networking in Southeast Asia. Through a variety of programs and engagements, including US educational and cultural exchanges, regional exchanges, and seed funding, YSEALI seeks to build leadership capabilities of youth in the region, strengthen ties between the United States and Southeast Asia, and nurture an ASEAN community.
After the speech, President Obama held a Q&A session with the young students.
