The state president pressed the button to kick start a countdown clock to welcome the APEC High-level Week in the city. At a working session the same day with representatives of the National Committee for APEC 2017, the state president pointed out that hosting the APEC Year 2017 is a focus of the country's external affairs, demonstrating the Communist Party of Vietnam's and state's policy of increased international integration. He requested the defense and public security ministries to co-ordinate and map out specific plans to ensure security during the events.
