The campaigning period will last from July 12 to 30, with the first aid shipment expected to be delivered on Wednesday (July 14).
The mobilisation, reception, management, distribution and use of donations will be publicised via mass media.
At the event, units, collectives and individuals presented tokens of their donations, including both cash and essentials, worth more than VND1.6 billion (over US$69,600).
* On the same day, a trade union representative of the Hyosung Vietnam Company, a foreign-invested business based in Dong Nai Province, confirmed that the unit had completed the allocation of urgent bonuses to support its employees amidst the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Specifically, each employee received VND3-5 million, depending on how long they have been working for the company.
In addition, the company also decided to increase basic wages for all employees recruited before July 2021.
* Amidst the complicated developments of the pandemic, T&T Group has presented 180,000 quick test kits to 16 cities and provinces nationwide to help them with COVID-19 screening.
* On July 12, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCYU) chapters and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees of localities in the southern province of Binh Phuoc supported and allocated food and essentials to disadvantaged households in lockdown areas.
* As of July 12, the national COVID-19 vaccine fund received around VND8.082 trillion (US$351.7 million), its management board said.
The board has opened 21 bank accounts for accepting donations in Vietnam dong, US dollar and euro at the State Treasury of Vietnam and six commercial banks: BIDV, Vietcombank, VietinBank, HDBank, Agribank and TPBank.
Vietnam will need VND22.5 trillion to buy the 150 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine required to inoculate 75 million people in order to achieve herd immunity.
