VTV.vn - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has expressed his deep sympathy and condolences to the families of the victims of a tourist bus bombing in Egypt on December 28, which killed four tourists on the spot and injured many others, including Vietnamese.

According to Spokesperson of the Vietnamese Foreign Ministry Le Thi Thu Hang, the Prime Minister has directed the Ministry to immediately take all necessary measures on protecting Vietnamese citizens in Egypt, grant support for the victims while asking the functional Egyptian agencies to create the most favorable conditions for the family members of the victims to visit Egypt.

Vietnam is extremely indignant and strongly condemns the terrorist act that killed and injured many innocent Vietnamese people, asking the Egypt side to soon open an investigation to search for and justifiably punish those who carried out the attack.

Vietnam calls on governments and their people to stand united in the fight against terrorism in an uncompromising way in order to build a peaceful life and to ensure safe travel for people around the world.

Earlier, following the direction of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh, the relevant agencies of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Vietnamese Embassy in Egypt actively conducted citizen protection activities, including visiting the victims, working with the local authorities and the Embassy of Egypt in Vietnam to quickly grant emergency visas to the relatives of the injured tourists to go to Egypt.

Vietnam appreciates the efforts and co-operation made by the Government and the people of Egypt in supporting the treatment and protection of Vietnamese citizens attacked in the incident.

The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has also issued document No. 1032/TCDL-LH asking international travel businesses who are operating tours to Egypt to coordinate with the functional agencies to ensure security and safety for tourists.

Tour operators should keep updated on warnings from the local functional agencies to take security measures for their tourists.

For those who are operating tours to Egypt, consideration should be taken in organising tours to the country during this time and update information for those who plan to visit Egypt in the near future.

In case of needing prompt assistance, tour operators can contact the Vietnamese Embassy in Egypt through the hotline +20 106 039 6518 or the citizen protection hotline 84 981 8484 84.

The Vietnamese tourists involved in the bomb blast were on a tour organised by the Saigon Travel Service Company (Saigontourist). Upon hearing about the incident, the company immediately worked with its Egyptian partners and the Vietnamese Embassy in Egypt to provide maximum support for the victims while updating the situation to the victims’ families.

According to the company, the bomb blast happened when the bus was carrying 14 tourists and a tour guide on the way for dinner before heading to the airport to return to Vietnam.
