The blood donation festival is part of the 10th “Hanh trinh do” (Red Journey), a communication and blood donation campaign that is underway in 46 cities and provinces nationwide. NIHBT Deputy Director Nguyen Ha Thanh said the festival, marking its 12th edition, is expected to collect 3,000 units of blood, adding that it has received nearly 31,000 blood units over the past 11 years.
The festival also features communication contests on blood donation, cultural activities for blood donors, and a programme to honour individuals and collectives that have made outstanding contributions to the work.
In addition to the NIHBT’s headquarters in Cau Giay District, people can also donate blood at 122 Lang Street in Dong Da District, 26 Luong Ngoc Street in Hoan Kiem District, and the Agriculture General Hospital in Thanh Tri District.
Taking place from June 2 to July 31, it is hoped that the “Red Journey” will receive a total of about 120,000 units of blood, with more than 100,000 units collected so far.
The event is expected to mobilise 4,000 people to register to donate a further 3,000 units of blood. In order to ensure the safe and thoughtful organisation of blood reception and donor care, the Hanoi Youth Association for Blood Donation has gathered, selected and trained 500 volunteers to participate in this activity.
In addition to the main activity of blood donation, the festival also featured many activities such as commendation of typical individuals and groups who have made great contributions to the organisation of the "Red Journey" in Hanoi and blood donation campaigns, with a large rate of participation of union members and youths in the capital area.
