The presentations at the meeting expressed their respect and gratitude to the great President Ho Chi Minh, who laid the foundation for the good relationship between Vietnam and Russia as well as gratitude to the Communist Party and people of Russia for their assistance during the resistance wars against France and America in Vietnam.
In her speech, Maria Mizonova, Consul General of Russia in Da Nang City, said Nguyen Ai Quoc was one of the first representatives of Vietnam to Russia in the early 1920s to study at the schools of the Communist International in the Soviet Union.
President Ho Chi Minh laid a solid foundation for the promotion of Russia-Vietnam cooperation as well as the deep understanding and sympathy between the two peoples, she added.
On this occasion, the Union of Friendship Organisations of Phu Yen Province awarded a Certificate of Merit from the Central Committee of the Vietnam-Russia Friendship Association to the Vietnam-Russia Friendship Association of Phu Yen Province to acknowledge its recent achievements.
Especially during outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Vietnam-Russia Friendship Association of Phu Yen Province mobilised the support of one Air Force disinfectant machine 910 to Hoa Dong Communal People's Committee of Tay Hoa District and donated thousands of books to Hoa Dong Commune’s library.
In addition, the association developed two Vietnam-Russia branches of the Phu Yen Vocational College and the Vietnam-Russia Friendship Association in Tuy Hoa City.
