VTV.vn - A photo exhibition entitled “Mekong – Stories of the two riverbanks” by French Vietnamese photographer Lam Duc Hien was launched at the Da Nang Fine Arts Museum on April 4.

The event was organised by the Da Nang Fine Arts Museum in collaboration with the French Embassy in Vietnam and the French-Vietnam Institute in Da Nang to mark the 50th anniversary of the diplomatic relations (1973-2023) and the 10th anniversary of the strategic partnership between Vietnam and France.

The exhibition showcases 28 photos as a series of pictorial narratives about the lives of people living by and relying on the Mekong River. The Mekong River is both a boundary and a link between lands, cultures, and peoples.

Deputy Director of the Da Nang Fine Arts Museum Nguyen Thi Trinh said that photographer Lam Duc Hien conducted a journey of about 4,200 km along the Mekong River, from the busy tropical downstream to the upstream of Tibet covered by snow all year round. This cross-continental trip has a special meaning to Lam Duc Hien - a French Vietnamese photographer who was born and raised on the banks of the Mekong River in Laos, which he calls the Mother River.

The exhibition will run until April 15. Within the framework of the exhibition, photographer Lam Duc Hien will have an exchange with photography-loving people on the afternoon of April 14.

Photographer Lam Duc Hien, born in 1966, has won many prestigious photography awards, including the Leica Award, Great European Award of Vevey City, World Press Photo, and others. He is also a member of the Agence VU photo agency.
