At an international conference organized by universities from Vietnam and France on Friday in Hanoi on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the Điện Biên Phủ campaign, scholars once again commented on the stature of the victory.
For the French, Điện Biên Phủ was one of the last chapters of the 8-year Indochina war. But from this painful past and with reconciliation efforts from both sides, Điện Biên Phủ has become a memory and a lesson to learn from for the French so that they do not make the same mistakes in the 21st century.
