Peaty breaks own world 100 metres breaststroke record

VTV.vn - British swimmer Adam Peaty set a world record for the 100 metres breaststroke on Saturday, clocking 57.00 seconds to win the European Championships title in Glasgow.

* Upstart Shi Yuqi comfortably beat Chen Long to race into the final of the Badminton World Federation (BWF) World Championships on Saturday (Aug 4) and confirm his newfound status as China's best player.

* Jan Ullrich, the only German cyclist to win the Tour de France, has been detained in Spain's Balearic Islands for allegedly forcibly entering his neighbour's house and threatening him, police said on Saturday (Aug 4).

* Raf van Hulle, a Belgian cyclist, rode 12,000km from the French city of Lyon to the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou in just 49 days to win an inaugural solar-powered electric bike race aimed at promoting renewable energy. Raf van Hulle's journey took him through Germany, Ukraine, Russia, then Kazakhstan before riding into China, cycling an average of 270km daily.

* Commonwealth Games silver medallist Stacy Ndiwa led a 1-2 Kenyan sweep in the women's 10,000 for her county's fifth gold medal at the African Championships in Asaba, Nigeria, on Saturday.
