Party leader receives Japanese Emperor

VTV.vn - Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong hosted a reception on Friday for Japanese Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko, who are on a week-long state visit to Vietnam.

The party leader said that the historic visit represented a landmark in the development in the relationship between the two countries. Emperor Akihito recalled the vivid impressions that he had during the meetings with party chief in Japan in 2008 and 2015.

The host and guests discussed cultural exchanges between Japan and Vietnam. Both sides shared the view that friendship and co-operation was at a historical apex, and they hoped that the visit would help promote bilateral relations across many fields.

Also on the same day, President Tran Dai Quang saw off Japanese Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko in Hanoi before their departure for Hue for the next stage of their state visit.
