The situation was discussed at a meeting on Friday chaired by the Ministry of Health with the Steering Committee for the Prevention and Control of Dangerous and Emerging Diseases to discuss ways to prevent highly virulent bird flu viruses.
The A/H7N9 epidemic has hit China's provinces that border Vietnam. Experts said avian flu outbreaks could happen in Vietnam through smuggled poultry, especially in northern border provinces.
