VTV.vn - Party and State leaders have given free gifts and best wishes to people nationwide ahead of the nation’s traditional Lunar New Year (Tet) festival.

On January 20, Politburo member and Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Communications and Education Vo Van Thuong visited and presented Tet gifts to officers and soldiers at the Duc Minh Border Station in Quang Ngai Province.

Speaking at the meeting, Thuong praised Duc Minh Border Station officials and soldiers for actively building and implementing their plans to protect border security during Tet.

Conveying his Tet wishes to the station, Thuong also expressed his hope that Duc Minh Border Guard officers and soldiers as well as the Quang Ngai Border Guards will perform well in combat readiness tasks, while joining hands with local authorities and people to effectively handle all security and order situations in a timely and efficient manner, as well as realising socio-economic development goals to ensure national defence and security in the locality.

He also encouraged the local soldiers to take the people’s pleasure as their own joy during Tet, and to tighten the relationship of solidarity between Duc Minh Border Station and the local authorities and people, thus creating great spiritual motivation for realising their duty.

* That morning, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, Tran Thanh Man, and leaders of the Mekong Delta province of Soc Trang visited and presented Tet gifts to policy beneficiaries and disadvantaged households in An Lac Thon Town in Ke Sach District.

He also suggested Soc Trang leaders should care more about social beneficiaries to help them improve their lives.

The houses were built with the support of local authorities and financial assistance worth VND150 million (about US$6,400) from donors.
