Some 500 overseas Vietnamese who are living in Vietnam attended the event. Up to now, about 5,700 overseas Vietnamese have repatriated from New Caledonia and Vanuatu. The meeting was a chance for them to recall memories and review the achievements of the Vietnamese community there. Currently, the Vietnamese community in New Caledonia now spans 4 generations with a population of about 4500./.
