The latest updates by the General Statistics Office (GSO) showed that Vietnam recorded nearly 55,800 newly registered businesses between January and May, with total registered capital of VND778.3 trillion and the number of registered employees at 412,400, up 15.4% in terms of the number of firms, up 39.5% in registered capital, and up 1.3% regarding the number of employees.
The average registered capital of a newly established enterprise during the period was VND14 billion, up 20.9% year-on-year.
Around 19,100 enterprises committed additional investment of VND975.1 trillion.
In addition, there were nearly 22,600 enterprises returning to operation, a year-on-year increase of 3.9%, bringing the total number of newly established enterprises and enterprises resuming operations in the first five months of 2021 to 78,300. On average, about 15,700 enterprises were newly established or restarted each month.
During the Jan-May period, Vietnam saw 59,800 enterprises temporarily suspend their business for a definite period, cease operations to wait for dissolution procedures, and complete dissolution procedures, up 23% year-on-year. Approximately 12,000 companies withdrew from the market each month on average.
