VTV.vn - The Vietnam Association for Promoting Education (VAPE) held a congress in Hanoi on December 1 to honour 294 exemplary learning models nationwide in the period of 2016-2020.

The event was attended by Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics Nguyen Xuan Thang and Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam.

Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong and Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc sent congratulatory letters to the congress.

In his letter, Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong extended his best wishes to all the exemplary learning families, clans, communities and units, as well as delegates to the congress, stating that the work of promoting study and talent and building a learning society has always received special attention from the Party and State and active response from people of all strata in recent years.

Learning in families, clans, communities and units has become a regular and indispensable activity for all people, penetrating into each family, clan, organisations, agencies and units and becoming the essential needs in the daily life of each person, he said.

Those achievements have been thanks to the outstanding effort of families, clans, communities and units, thus implementing President Ho Chi Minh’s thought and vision on learning and lifelong learning, the leader emphasised.

He underscored that in the current context of multiple challenges and difficulties, the movement of building learning models among study promotion associations and members will contribute significantly to the country’s “people-cultivating” cause and socio-economic development.

The Party and State leader asked all-level Party committees, local authorities and the people to continue paying attention to and creating conditions for the work of promoting study and building a learning society to become a regular, widespread and indispensable movement in daily life.

In his letter to the VAPE and outstanding learning examples, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc congratulated the families, clans, communities and units that were awarded the titles “Learning Family”, “Learning Clan”, “Learning Community” and “Learning Unit”. Building a lifelong learning society is the desire of President Ho Chi Minh, and is a great policy of the Party and State, he said, noting that in recent years, many learning models have been effectively and widely implemented throughout the country, contributing actively to promoting lifelong learning as well as to national socio-economic development.

The Government leader voiced his belief that the task of building a learning society in general and learning models in particular will be constantly strengthened and widely replicated, thus contributing practically to the sustainable development of the country and the building of a prosperous and powerful Vietnam with wealthy people and a democratic, equal and civilised society.

Speaking at the congress, Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam praised the exemplary learning models and the VAPE’s significant contributions, stating that promoting lifelong learning and building a learning society are great and righteous policies of the Party and State and in line with people’s aspirations.

The current proud results of the educational sector are attributed to the important contributions of VAPE affiliates at all levels and more than 21 million workers promoting study nationwide, as well as the efforts of all Vietnamese families, he said.

In the time ahead, the Deputy PM asked the VAPE to accelerate the application of information technology in activities to promote study, while encouraging Party committees and authorities at all levels to pay greater attention to culture and education, especially study promotion, and dedicate necessary honour to exemplary collectives and individuals in study promotion.
