Protests on Saturday involved around 136,000 people, with violent clashes seen across France, including in major cities such as Lyon, Bordeaux and Toulouse.
Clashes with riot police occurred during a fourth round of protests as demonstrators called for French President Emmanuel Macron to step down amid rising living costs and various other grievances. The police used tear gas and water cannon to disperse protesters in some parts of Paris, with clashes occurring until late into the night near the Place de la Republique.
