VTV.vn - The Vietnamese and French Communist Parties co-organised an online seminar on December 6 to discuss late Vietnamese President Ho Chi Minh’s contributions to the French party and Marseille city.

The event gathered agencies, researchers, and young Party members of both sides and representatives of Vietnamese and French localities.

In his opening speech, head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Communication and Education Nguyen Trong Nghia stressed the seminar is an opportunity for Vietnamese and French Party members and youth to better understand Ho Chi Minh’s role to the French Communist Party (FCP) and the ties shared between the two parties.

National Secretary of the FCP Fabien Roussel affirmed the important role of the late Vietnamese President to both parties and expressed his gratitude for his contributions to the anti-colonial struggles in the world.

He once again emphasised the solidarity of the French communists with the Vietnamese people in the past resistance wars as well as their present national construction cause.

At the seminar, Vietnamese and French speakers presented studies on the historical significance of the period when Ho Chi Minh stayed in France, his contributions to the French Communist Party and Marseille, and his journey from patriotism to communism, among other topics.

Earlier, a plaque commemorating President Ho Chi Minh was unveiled in Marseille on November 26, as part of the activities marking 110 years since the late President boarded ship Amiral Latouche Tréville to France, beginning his journey for national salvation.
