Upon their arrival, head coach Mai Duc Chung and his players took a bus to Newcastle, New South Wales (150km away from Sydney), where they will play the host team at McDonald Jones Stadium in two days’ time.
The Vietnamese team have been arranged to stay at the five-star Holiday Inn Hotel with the best accommodation conditions.
Despite travelling a long distance, the Vietnamese delegation promptly received the thoughtful and enthusiastic welcome of the home side. The hosts have arranged three volunteers to support the Vietnamese team with every issue, from daily activities to training.
After performing hotel check-in procedures, having lunch and taking a rest, the Vietnamese players started training at 5.30pm to familiarise themselves with the weather conditions in Newcastle.
The training stadium arranged for Mai Duc Chung’s troops on Tuesday is a 20-minute bus ride from the Holiday Inn Hotel and not far from the official hosting venue of the play-off match, McDonald Jones Stadium. During the training session, Chung mainly had the players relax for 45 minutes.
As planned, the Vietnamese team will have a major 90-minute training session this afternoon (March 4). Tomorrow, a representative of the coaching staff will attend a technical meeting, while head coach Mai Duc Chung will attend a pre-match press conference.
