At the meeting, Huu, who is also a member of the Party Central Committee (PCC), the deputy head of the PCC’s Communications and Education Commission and the chairman of the Vietnam Journalists’ Association, expressed his delight in welcoming the diplomat and his entourages from the Indian embassy to visit and learn about the Vietnamese Party’s newspaper.
Huu thanked the ambassador for his good assessment of the relationship between Vietnam and India. He introduced the guest to Nhan Dan Newspaper, a central organ of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the voice of the Party, State and people of Vietnam and its 10 publications in addition to the Nhan Dan Television broadcasting network.
In addition, Nhan Dan Newspaper has established cooperative relations with a range of partners around the world and currently has six representative offices in Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, China, Russia and France. The newspaper in general and the Vietnamese media always support the friendship between Vietnam and India, while selecting and posting positive information about the country and people of India, Huu stated.
For his part, the Indian ambassador said that although he had just been assigned to Vietnam for only just more than a month, before coming to Vietnam, he had heard about the reputation of Nhan Dan newspaper as well as its important role in Vietnam’s modernising period, as well as in promoting the Vietnam - India relations.
According to the diplomat, the Vietnam - India relationship has been built on a long-term foundation in history, deeply connected in terms of culture and society, especially being nurtured by the leaders of the two countries over many generations. The Indian ambassador said that India was honoured to become a comprehensive strategic partner of Vietnam and the South Asian country considers Vietnam to be one of its most intimate and trusted partners, as well as one of important pillars in India's Look East policy.
In this new context, communication plays an extremely important role, Verma said, expressing his hope and trust that Nhan Dan Newspaper would continue to play a key role in promoting the relationship between the two sides.
Huu also affirmed that Vietnam and India share many similarities in both cultural and social aspects, especially Buddhism. The two sides still have a lot of potential for cooperation, especially in the field of economics and people-to-people exchanges. Huu expressed his wish that the ambassador would continue to contribute to unlocking all their capacities to connect, thus promoting the bilateral relations to a new height.
As the chairman of the Vietnam Journalists’ Association, Huu hoped that the ambassador would also facilitate the development and expansion of communication relations between the two countries.
The Indian ambassador affirmed that he would make an effort to promote communication cooperation between both sides, while proposing Nhan Dan to study the opening of a representative office in India and the Indian Embassy in Vietnam which would create favourable conditions for the newspaper to implement the plan in order to expand more accurate and agile news from India.
At the meeting, Huu and his guest also discussed international issues of common concern, as well as measures to promote relations between the two countries in general and the media in particular.
