Nguyen Hue Flower Street celebrates Lunar New Year

VTV.vn - Nguyen Hue Flower Street, themed ““Homeland Spring - Warmth of Love”, officially opened on January 29 (the 27th day of the last lunar month) to welcome the Lunar Year of the Tiger 2022.

The opening ceremony was attended by former Politburo member and President Truong Tan Sang; Politburo member and Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen; and Secretary of Party Central Committee (PCC) and Head of the PCC’s Commission for Communications and Education Nguyen Trong Nghia; among others.

Nguyen Hue Flower Street 2022, the 19th of its kind to take place during the traditional Tet holiday in Ho Chi Minh City since 2004, is expected to bring hope for a bright future to the public while extending gratitude to the compatriots nationwide who have given great support and love to Ho Chi Minh City, especially the sacrifices and hardships of frontline forces in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic.

The 600m flower street was divided into three segments and use many environmentally friendly and reusable materials such as metal, foam, rattan, bamboo, bricks, nets, knitting ropes... along with about 80 varieties of flowers, and nearly 97,000 pots and flower baskets of all kinds.

Unlike in previous years, the mascot of the Nguyen Hue Flower Street’s greeting gate will not be located in its usual central position but has been moved to the sides, accompanied by the “Twin Tigers meet” sculpture made from delicately cut stainless steel slices, showing the strong and proud qualities of the animal known as the “Lord of the Forest”.

The Nguyen Hue Flower Street 2022 will run until February 4 (the fourth day of the first lunar month).

* Also on January 29, the 2022 Book Street Festival officially kicked off in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, in the presence of Politburo member and Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen.

The festival features 50,000 book titles by numerous publishing units around the city.

In addition, visitors will be introduced to the photos and documents in celebration of the 92nd founding anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930-2022), the books that have won the National Book Awards during 2017-2021 period from publishing houses in the city, spring newspaper publications in online form, and an audio book space.

* The annual spring book street is taking place from January 29 to February 6 to create a space for Hanoi citizens to welcome Tet festival in a joyful atmosphere.

In addition to the fixed booths of the units operating at the book street, an ancient reading space and areas for calligraphy, to he (a traditional toy manually made with glutinous rice powder) and traditional art performances are expected to delight visitors.

Several activities under the programme will be recorded and published via the fanpage “Hanoi Book Street” to serve the readers.

Visitors are required to strictly implement 5K principles to ensure safety.
