Nga Bay City established in Hau Giang Province

The city was established on the basis of maintaining the current natural area, population and administrative boundaries of former Nga Bay Town. This is the second largest city of Hau Giang Province after Vi Thanh City.

Nga Bay City is located in the northeast of Hau Giang Province with an area of 78km2 and a population of more than 100,000 in 2019.

Nga Bay City is about 30km from Can Tho City and Soc Trang City and 40km from Can Tho Airport which is also a transport hub for the provinces of Bac Lieu, Soc Trang and Ca Mau.

Addressing the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Uong Chu Luu said that the establishment of Nga Bay City is an important milestone, marking a new development period for the settlement.

The recognition will also open up opportunities for the city to change its face and promote its strengths in commerce, services, industrial development and smart agriculture in order to accelerate economic restructuring and improve the lives of the locals, Luu noted.
