The closing ceremony was attended by Politburo member, Secretary of Party Central Committee (PCC) and Head of PCC Commission for Organisation, Pham Minh Chinh, Politburo member and Deputy Prime Minister, Vuong Dinh Hue, Tourism Ministers of ASEAN countries, leaders of Quang Ninh province, and nearly 1,000 local residents and visitors.
The gala night featured songs and dances imbued with the cultural identity of Vietnam’s different regions. Two Ao Dai (traditional Vietnamese long dress) collections by designer Tran Thien Khanh were also introduced on the stage through the catwalks of Vietnamese models and beauties.
Addressing the event, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Nguyen Ngoc Thien, said that Quang Ninh’s success in hosting the National Tourism Year 2018 contributed to luring visitors and opening development opportunities for the province and for Vietnam in general.
With nearly 50 activities and events held in the locality under the framework of the National Tourism Year, Quang Ninh welcomed 12.3 million visitors in 2018, including 5.2 million foreigners, and earned VND24 trillion in tourism revenue.
At the closing ceremony, Minister Thien handed over the mantle of the National Tourism Year 2019 host to Nha Trang city, Khanh Hoa province.
