VTV.vn - National Assembly deputies have just voted to shorten the agenda of the first session of the 15th National Assembly to focus on the prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Speaking at the meeting on the afternoon of July 24, NA permanent Vice Chairman Tran Thanh Man said that it is necessary to prioritise pandemic prevention and control, thus, the NA Standing Committee proposed the NA consider the adjustment of its working programme and conclude the first session soon.

NA General Secretary Bui Van Cuong also emphasised that amid the complicated and unpredictable situation of the pandemic, the relevant agencies and ministries need to focus on the prevention of and fight against the pandemic.

The NA Standing Committee also considered a plan to adjust the session agenda so that it can complete all the set contents with the best quality in the shortest time, creating favourable conditions for NA deputies who are leaders of localities, ministries and agencies to deal directly with pandemic prevention and control, Cuong noted.

Accordingly, legislators will work all day on Sunday July 25, reduce one-day discussions, and extend their working hours to 6pm so that the session will end three days earlier, now scheduled to close on July 28.

The majority of NA deputies voted to approve the adjustment of the meeting agenda.
