Musician Phan Huynh Dieu passes away

VTV.vn - Musician Phan Huynh Dieu, the writer of many revolutionary and love songs, passed away at 91 at the Thong Nhat hospital in Ho Chi Minh City on June 29.

Phan Huynh Dieu was born on November 11, 1924 in Danang city. He was well-known as one of the most outstanding Vietnamese musicians of the 20th century.

He started his music career in 1940. He composed over 100 songs including ‘Hanh khuc ngay va dem’ (The March of Day and Night), ‘Bong cay Konia’ (Shade Of The Konia Tree), ‘Thuyen va bien’ (Boat and sea), ‘Nhung anh sao dem’ (Starlight at Night), ‘O hai dau noi nho’ (At Two Ends of Nostalgia). The late musician was also known for many children’s songs such as ‘Doi ken ti hon’ (Tiny trumpet team) and ‘Nho on Bac’ (Be grateful to Uncle Ho). He was awarded the Ho Chi Minh Prize for Literature and Arts in recognition of his great contributions to the country’s music industry.
