His business has helped create many jobs for local people. The success of his mushroom farm is a good example of the entrepreneurial spirit in the agriculture sector.
Tu’s farm produces different kinds of mushrooms, including fungi. Nguyet has been working at the farm since day one. For the past 5 years, she has never missed a day of work at the farm.
"We earn 3 USD for every 10 kilos of rice. For mushroom planting, we earn 5 USD a day. Compared with rice cultivation, mushroom planting offers a much higher income", said Le Thi Nguyet, Thanh Cong Commune, Khoai Chau, Hung Yen Province.
"Mushroom planting is suitable for women’s health. The job is not too labour intensive, and our income is stable", said Đô Thị Tin, Thanh Cong Commune, Khoai Chau, Hung Yen Province.
"I want to develop this business, establish new farms, and create more jobs for local people. I hope to raise the income of people here", said Nguyen Anh Tu, Phu Thinh Commune, Kim Dong, Hung Yen Province.
On average, the farm produces 25-30 tons of fungi and oyster mushrooms per year, with an annual profit is 20,000 USD. According to Tu, the key to his business’s success is hard work, determination, and patience.
