The forum, themed “Partnership in preparing a future-ready workforce for an inclusive digital economy in Vietnam”, was jointly held by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, and Samsung Vietnam.
The event featured the participation of over 300 delegates from government agencies, ministries, departments, non-governmental organisations, social organisations, associations, enterprises, institutes, and trade unions in the country and abroad as well as various experts.
Speaking at the forum, the VCCI’s President Pham Tan Cong emphasised that an inclusive digital economy allows workers and businesses to contribute to the growth process and enjoy the fruits of that growth.
This is completely consistent with the sustainable development goals set by Vietnamese Government, most recently the National Action Plan to implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals, in response to the United Nations sustainable development goals, added Cong.
For his part, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL) Ngo Duy Hieu said that the unprecedented difficulties from the COVID-19 pandemic for the majority of both employees and enterprises, along with the enormous challenges from the Industrial Revolution 4.0, have placed strict requirements and difficulties on workers at present and into the future.
The workers should change their mindsets, raise their awareness, improve their self-efficacy, and have the fastest access to the reality so that they can be proactive in working and living.
The Vietnam Trade Union wishes and believes that all parties will work together towards defining a common vision and coming up with effective solutions to improve their adaptability.
Director of Samsung Vietnam Choi JooHo noted that, through MSF 2021, Samsung hopes to be able to share their insights with stakeholders and discuss about the new opportunities that the fourth industrial revolution has brought to workers, especially those who are facing difficulties in accessing learning and development opportunities, thereby making positive and useful contributions to sustainable development in Vietnam.
