Runners and walkers divided in three categories for men, women and teenagers completed a 5 kilometre race.
This year’s event raised over 1 billion VND (43,000 USD) for charitable activities.
According to the organising board, over the past 17 years, the BBGV has raised about 10 VND for charitable activities in Vietnam. The events attracted more than 100,000 people.
In 2017, the Fund Run for Charity in HCM City drew 10,000 participants, raising nearly 1 billion VND.
With funding, the programme provided the Saigon Children charitable organisation with 12 scholarships worth 100 million VND to help needy students. It also provided scholarships worth over 170 million VND for 112 female students in difficult background in southern Hau Giang province, while assisting 270 million VND to build a kindergarten in Da Bop village in northern Dien Bien province, and cooperating with Loerto organisation to upgrade toilets in A Phu Hoi primary school in southern An Giang.
