Themed “Solidarity, friendship and development”, the festival will see the participation of 1,000 artisans and artists from the five provinces of Kon Tum, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Quang Tri and Thua Thien - Hue, in addition to four art troupes from Laos.
The Organising Board said that the event aims to strengthen and enhance the mutual understanding, solidarity, friendship and cultural exchange between the border provinces of Vietnam and Laos and Central and Central Highlands regions.
A wide range of activities will be organised during the three-day festival including mass art performances, national costume performances, brocade weaving performances, and sports competitions, such as tug of war, volleyball, crossbow shooting, and others.
In addition, the festival will feature the cultural and tourism products of localities, exhibitions on cultural and tourism characteristics of ethnic minorities groups, organising ecotourism and community tourism surveys in Thua Thien Hue and Quang Nam provinces, and introducing cuisine of ethnic minority groups in Thua Thien Hue, and others.
The event will be jointly held by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the People’s Committee of Thua Thien - Hue province.
