More regulations needed for goods purchased via foreign E-commerce sites

VTV.vn - The transaction, purchase, and sale of goods through foreign e-commerce sites will be more closely managed, including the calculation of taxes.

These regulations will be beneficial for consumers. That is the drafted content of the e-commerce management project for import and export goods being completed by the General Department of Customs for submission in September, 2019. The General Department of Customs mentioned there is no system for receiving, storing, and processing data related to E-commerce transactions. For example, some Vietnamese customers buy goods through foreign E-commerce trading floors when the goods are discounted. But when the goods are shipped to Vietnam, customs has no information about the discount to recalculate the tax.

Therefore, they still impose taxes on the goods based on the pre-discount price, so consumers have to pay more taxes. Specific regulations on tax calculation for goods purchased via foreign e-commerce sites are necessary.
