Over the past century, Mobil Delvac has been used in a wide range of transport and industrial applications, evolving alongside technological and regulatory changes in the diesel sector.
To commemorate the milestone, ExxonMobil plans a series of customer engagement activities in Vietnam and across Southeast Asia. These include technical workshops, roadshows, and promotional campaigns scheduled to begin in August. Local distributors will also introduce limited-edition packaging featuring the Mobil Delvac 100 Year logo.
The anniversary campaign will also highlight selected historical developments and customer case studies, focusing on changes in engine technology, product formulation, and lubricant management practices.
"Reaching 100 years provides an opportunity to reflect on how both the product and the industry have changed," said Dave Hergenrether, Vice President of Finished Lubricants at ExxonMobil. "We’re using this moment to engage with partners and look ahead to future needs in diesel engine performance."
Originally developed under the name "Diesel Engine Lubricant by Vacuum Oil," Mobil Delvac was created to support the expansion of diesel-powered equipment. Since then, the brand has been adapted to address developments such as tighter emissions regulations, longer oil drain intervals, and new engine designs including those equipped with exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) systems.
According to ExxonMobil, Mobil Delvac products are currently distributed in over 150 countries. In Southeast Asia, the brand is commonly used by fleet operators, logistics providers, and construction businesses.
"As engine technology continues to evolve, we expect lubricant development to play an important role in supporting efficiency, compliance, and maintenance planning," said Kapil Mittal, Mobil Delvac Global Brand Manager.
