VTV.vn - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a meeting to mark the 70th anniversary of its foundation in Hanoi on Thursday.

The ceremony was attended by President Truong Tan Sang and other high-ranking party and state officials.

Speaking at the event, President Truong Tan Sang spoke highly of the achievements and contributions of the ministry over the past 70 years. Since its establishment, Vietnam’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has contributed greatly to national liberation struggles, reunification and development. He asked for diplomats to comply with the party’s guidelines and policies, and follow President Ho Chi Minh’s thoughts in a flexible manner.

President Sang presented the Gold Star Order to the foreign ministry in recognition of its contributions.

Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh echoed the state president’s thoughts and thanked the ministry and other diplomatic staff for their efforts.
