Memorial ceremony for traffic accident victims held in Ninh Binh

VTV.vn - The National Traffic Safety Committee, in collaboration with Ninh Binh authorities, held a memorial ceremony for traffic accident victims at the Bai Dinh Pagoda in Ninh Binh Province on the evening of November 17.

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha and Chair of the National Traffic Safety Committee attended the event and delivered a keynote address.

According to the National Traffic Safety Committee, over 9,000 people have lost their lives in traffic accidents in Vietnam in the first 10 months of this year.

Expressing condolences to the families who have endured irreparable loss, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha described traffic accidents as an "enemy" that relentlessly claims lives, causes physical harm, and leaves permanent emotional scars on the families of victims.

During the ceremony, he called on officials, Party members, civil servants, and especially leaders to set an example by strictly adhering to traffic safety regulations and encouraging their families and communities to do the same.

He urged ministries, agencies, and local authorities to unite by taking a firm stance against traffic violations and work toward a safer, more efficient, and environmentally friendly transportation system.

Additionally, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha emphasised the need to strengthen traffic laws, including stricter penalties, potentially extending to criminal measures for violations.
