As the dry spell continues, the water in the Mekong River has been dropping by about 10-20 cm per day.
It's now only about 1.5m high, about 11m lower than the spill-over point on the river bank.
According to experts, the low water level of the Mekong has caused mass deaths of fish and increased the risk of mass extinction for aquatic organisms across the entire Mekong basin.
