Meeting to prepare for Wipha storm

According to the Central Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention, by this morning, nearly 72 thousand fishing vessels from Quang Ninh to Thanh Hoa and 290 thousand people have entered the safe area. The four provinces issued a ban of fishing activities at sea. Heavy rain in the North and North Central region is the issue of the most concern. Localities must prioritize the preparations for flooding in low areas in Hanoi, Bac Giang, Ninh Binh, Phu Tho, Ha Nam, and Nghe An. Along with that is the risk of landslides in a number of mountainous provinces. There are 242 points at high risk of landslides, which can interfere with traffic.

Localities also need to implement measures to ensure the safety of dykes and reservoirs. Currently there are 230 key dyke points from Quang Ninh to Thanh Hoa and more than 200 reservoirs under construction.
