The Woman Giving "Fishing Rods" to People with Disabilities
Born and raised in Hồng Kỳ, Sóc Sơn district, Hanoi, Đinh Thị Quỳnh Nga faced an unexpected accident at a young agethat left her with paralysis in her left leg. However, she never stopped striving, overcoming challenges and becoming an inspiration to others in similar situations. "After graduating from the Fine Arts Pedagogy Department at the Hanoi Pedagogical College, I applied for jobs everywhere. In many places, I only received head-shakes when they realized my disability made it difficult for me to get around. Unable to find a job, I temporarily switched to decorating wedding flowers”, Quỳnh Nga said.
In 2007, she passed the civil service exam and became an art teacher at the School for the Care and Education of Disabled Children in Sóc Sơn district, Hanoi. This marked a crucial turning point in her life, allowing her to live and work in line with her profession.
Quỳnh Nga used to make wedding flowers to earn an income.
In early 2009, she decided to set up the "Pink Hearts" group to bring together disabled friends who had completed their education in the area and were able to work independently to earn a living. To date, her Craft Cooperative has developed six business lines, including wood bead bead handicrafts, mushroom cultivation, industrial sewing, clean BBQ charcoal production, and two service lines: photocopying and refreshing coffee. The cooperative currently provides regular employment to nearly 40 workers, offers lunch support for all workers, and provides accommodation for disabled workers from distant provinces.
For these noble gestures, Đinh Thị Quỳnh Nga was honored as one of the 50 unsung heroes of the community and was awarded the Certificate of Merit by the Prime Minister in 2020.

Nguyệt shared: "There are elderly pensioners who, for the first time, don the traditional Ao Dai. There areyoung children whose joy knows no bounds as they receive their Tet Ao Dai outfits from the store. Particularly touching is a visually impaired little girl; as I measured her outfit, her delicate hands gently touched the dress hem, lightly brushing against the fabric, and she slowly took a step. Witnessing that moment, I have never experienced such happinessin my life. It was an important milestone that inspired me to do more”.
