Ho Thi Lang appeared and left a strong impression with her petite stature and gentle smile. Although she was born healthy, severe spinal issues stunted her growth at 1.2 meters. Difficult family circumstances and childhood insecurity forced her to drop out after seventh grade. Hurtful teasing and curious stares from others led her to become isolated and withdrawn.
Yet, refusing to surrender to fate, Ho Thi Lang chose to stand up and move forward. The program retraced her journey to Hanoi, where she learned the craft of paper quilling, a handmade art form that requires patience and precision. To pursue her passion, she worked in a factory while studying the craft to support herself and help her family.
Upon returning to Da Nang, she set out to build her own quilling business. The early days were far from easy. The products were unfamiliar to the market, and there were months without orders, pushing her family into financial distress. Yet Ho Thi Lang refused to give up. She named her workshop “Suong Ban Mai Quilling” (Morning Dew), a reflection of herself: fragile yet always striving to shine in the sunlight.
What touched viewers most was not only her journey through hardship but also her dedication to the community. Once someone who needed support herself, Ho Thi Lang has now become a provider of opportunity for others facing similar circumstances. She mentored more than 20 students with disabilities and difficult backgrounds, helping them earn income and regain confidence.
Throughout the program, the conversations between MC Minh Hang and the guest unfolded gently but emotionally. While creating quilled paper cards together, Ho Thi Lang shared that each small paper coil resembles her own life journey: it requires patience, care, and the determination to never give up halfway.
