The request was made following the Prime Minister’s direction at a regular cabinet meeting on August 3.
In a dispatch sent by the Ministry of Health on August 4, local health departments are ordered to allocate appropriate human resources, medical equipment and medicine at the exam venues to handle any student with symptoms of COVID-19, including fever, cough and shortness of breath.
The departments must also assign medical facilities to screen and classify the health status of students who will sit the national high school graduation exams.
At exam venues involving the participation of students who had close contact with COVID-19 patients (F1), all examination officials must wear sufficient protective costumes and take measures to prevent the spread of the disease.
Meanwhile, students and parents are requested to fill in health declarations and keep a close watch on their health status. If the students have any of the abovementioned symptoms of COVID-19, they have to inform exam organisers and schoolteachers.
