VTV.vn - Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has called on ministries and local authorities need to provide support for local people to help them restore production as soon as possible.

The PM made the call at a conference with 11 provincial authorities in the Mekong delta region on March 7th. Many provinces in the Mekong Delta region are facing record salt water intrusion and drought.

For 140 thousand hectares of damaged crops, the government will provide almost 7 million USD to support local farmers. Farmers are required to not plant the summer-autumn crop in areas forecasted to be the worst affected by salt water. Farmers also need to prepare measures to prevent disease in their shrimp and fish. More than 300 hectares of fruit trees are also protected.
