Meaningful activities mark 73rd anniversary of Wounded and Fallen Soldiers’ Day

VTV.vn - Various activities have been held across the country over recent days to commemorate the 73rd anniversary of Wounded and Fallen Soldiers’ Day (July 27).

The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union’s Hanoi chapter organised a ceremony on July 12 to mark the 70th founding anniversary of the Vietnam youth volunteer force (July 15) and met with youth volunteer team N43 on their 55th founding anniversary.

As many 350 members of the N43 team and relatives of 48 martyrs of the team attended the event.

The ceremony reviewed and highlighted the historical milestones and outstanding achievements of the youth volunteer force as well as the contributions of the N43 team.

On the occasion, members of the N43 team and relatives of martyrs were provided with free medical examinations and medicines.

At the ceremony, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, Hanoi chapter also presented 23 social houses to policy beneficiary families in the districts of Thanh Oai, My Duc and Thanh Tri.

* The Northern province of Ha Giang held a reburial service and ceremony for the remains of 10 soldiers who laid down their lives in the struggle to safeguard the nation at the Vi Xuyen National Martyrs’ Cemetery on July 11.

Sen. Lt. Col. Lai Tien Giang, head of the Ha Giang Military Command, said that nine sets of remains were retrieved from the communes of Thanh Thuy and Minh Tan in Vi Xuyen District in July. Meanwhile, the other remains belong to a guerrilla soldier who fought in the resistance war against French colonialists.

*The President has issued a decision on delivering gifts to revolutionary contributors on the occasion of the 73rd anniversary of the Wounded and Fallen Soldiers’ Day.

This is an annual activity to show gratitude to those who have contributed to the nation.

Gifts worth VND400,000 or VND200,000 each will be given to heroic Vietnamese mothers, invalids, martyrs’ relatives, war veterans affected by toxic chemicals, and those who worship martyrs.
