This week's Love Station opens with a delightful poem from Ms. Duong Thi Sinh. The conversation between Sinh and the host becomes more intriguing when host Minh Hang reveals she can guess Sinh’s personality based on her choice of school supplies. Through this, Sinh shares more about her teaching job, a passion she holds dear. Her dream of teaching stemmed from her concern for disadvantaged children who couldn't attend school. Reflecting on her past struggles, Sinh was determined to devote herself to helping these children.
Before turning to teaching, Sinh's life was filled with challenges due to her disability and health issues. Born into a large family, she suffered a major setback when she developed myositis at the age of two. Despite all efforts to treat her, her right leg gradually atrophied and became shorter than her left, leaving her with a limp and a height comparable to that of a child. Her school years were a nightmare due to her insecurity about her appearance. "When I was in school, I was often teased and called names like 'kangaroo' or 'rabbit'", Sinh recalls emotionally.
Overcoming adversity, Sinh excelled academically and was well-liked by her teachers and peers. However, after finishing 12th grade, she was forced to drop out of school and started sewing to earn a living. Her life changed when she began tutoring two underprivileged children from her neighborhood for free, marking the beginning of her journey as the "tiny teacher".
From a free class for two children, Ms. Duong Thi Sinh has become a second mother to 64 students, many of whom have special circumstances. Her dedication and effective teaching methods have resulted in significant progress among her students. The success of her class spread, attracting many parents to entrust their children to her. Despite the pressures that sometimes made her want to quit, her love and patience helped her persevere. "I have a natural connection with the children. I see myself in them, and that makes me cherish them. I always encourage them to be confident and give them hope so they don't lose heart", Sinh says. Her genuine affection is reciprocated by her students, who adore and respect her.
The journey to meet the "tiny teacher" concludes with the surprise appearance of her childhood friend Ms. Quy, who carried her to school for nine years. The two have been friends for 20 years. For Quy, Sinh is not only a dear friend but also a source of life motivation: "I was once fell seriously ill once. But thinking of Sinh gave me the strength to go on living. I said to myself, 'If my friend can overcome it with one and a half legs, why can't I be brave and move forward?'".
With her desire to rise above her circumstances and her boundless love, Ms. Duong Thi Sinh has helped many disadvantaged children continue their education. This journey will be shared with viewers through Love Station - "Sowing Life's Belief" at 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 6, 2024, on VTV1.
