Love Station: A Disabled Man Gives Hope to Others in Similar Circumstances

Born in Bac Giang in 1995 in Bac Giang, , Bui Van Hieu is the eldest of three siblings in a family whose main occupation is farming. Despite the family's financial difficulties, at 19, Hieu decided to learn Japanese with the dream of studying in Japan to support his family. However, in the prime of his youth, a road accident took away his legs and confined him to a wheelchair. This devastating blow crushed the young man, leaving him in a prolonged state of self-doubt and withdrawal.

Due to the family's farming background, Hieu's treatment was fraught with difficulties. His mother, who had been working abroad as a laborer, immediately returned to look after him. His parents worked tirelessly, starting their day as early as 2 or 3 in the morning to cover the medical expenses.  While in hospital, Hieu was heavily sedated and didn't fully understand the loss of his legs. But upon returning home, he had to face the harsh reality he had been avoiding. From a young man full of ambition, dreaming of earning a living far from home to escape poverty, Hieu now found himself trapped within four walls. Despite the long period of pain and despair, the unwavering support of his family helped him gradually come to terms with his situation and seek a new direction for his life.

Though the accident shattered his dreams and ambitions, Hieu's optimism and relentless effort turned his misfortune into an opportunity for personal growth. After joining a community group for people with disabilities on social media, Hieu met many others in similar situations. He realized that many people, despite facing   hardships greater than his own, remained optimistic and joyful,  making a positive contribution to society. This inspired him to change himself and sparked his desire to build a similar community in Bac Giang province.

In 2017, Hieu gathered  a group of like-minded  people to form the "Disabled People of Bac Giang Province" group. Throughout the years, he has actively organized sports competitions and charity events. In 2019, he officially became the Deputy Head of the Bac Giang Provincial Youth Club for People with Disabilities. Bui Van Hieu has always been a "leading flag", helping and encouraging others less fortunate in the area. Although he now lives in the capital, he still finds time to participate in the club's activities. At home, he has started an online business that helps others earn extra income. Despite the challenges of each new journey, his 4-year-old daughter is a steadfast source of support, motivating him to overcome difficulties. The gift from Love Station will assist Bui Van Hieu in his upcoming journey.

After enduring hardships and trials, we all find our way up. For Bui Van Hieu, it is about finding a dream not only for himself but also for those in difficult circumstances.
