VTV.vn - The World Bank announced that it would provide US$45 million in additional financing for an on-going project in Vietnam. The project was first approved in 2009 to boost livestock production and improve food safety in the country.

According to a World Bank representative, the additional financing would expand good animal husbandry practices to farmers in the 12 participating provinces. This has contributed to food safety and sanitation as well as promoting Vietgap standards.

Since the project’s inception, over 11,000 households have applyied Vietgap standards nationwide. These households provide 56,000 tons of meat to the market, doubling farmers’ profits compared with the previous traditional rearing techniques.
