Today at 8:30, Vietnam Television will broadcast the launch ceremony of the VTV6 Sports Channel live on VTV1. Beginning today, sports enthusiasts across the country will have a new dedicated television platform.
Licensed on June 2 by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, , the Sports Channel is tasked with providing information, communication, and public education on the Party’s guidelines and the State’s policies and laws related to sports and physical training. It will also promoting the development of grassroots, school, and professional sports.
Inspiring and encouraging physical activity, regular exercise, and healthy lifestyles to contribute to public health improvement and the comprehensive development of Vietnamese people are among its goals. Broadcasting entirely in Vietnamese, the Sports Channel targets audiences nationwide and broadcasts 24 hours a day.
Do Duc Hoang, the deputy director general of VTV, emphasized that the spirit of Resolution 72-NQ/TW on improving the physical well-being of Vietnamese citizens served as an important foundation for the channel’s creation. According to him, in addition to broadcasting major sporting events, the channel will devote significant airtime to community and amateur sports, including pickleball, volleyball, table tennis, badminton, sepak takraw, and handball. The channel will also focus on exercise guidance, fitness education, and nutrition-related content. “We hope the channel will help change public awareness and exercise habits. We want the VTV6 Sports Channel to be more than just a place where audiences watch competitions; we want it to be a platform that promotes healthy living, positive lifestyles, and a broad sports-loving community”, said Do Duc Hoang.
