According to statistics, the maritime economy plays an increasingly important role in the national economyand contributes significantly to the socio-economic development of the country. Among these sectors, the exploitation of aquatic resources attracts over one million workers, with hundreds of fishing vessels operating in coastal areas. Fishing activities in these regions, with the regular presence of Vietnamese fishermen, not only bring substantial economic benefits but also consolidate national sovereignty, and sovereign rights, and maintain national defense and security in the maritime areas of the homeland.
However, alongside the achievements,, there have been numerous violations of the law and even environmental degradation by organizations and individuals both local and international, in their fishing activities in coastal areas.
Over the past 10 years, the Fisheries Surveillance Force has effectively carried out its mission of patrolling, monitoring, detecting, and dealing with infringements, defending sovereignty, maintaining peace at sea, conducting search and rescue operations, and protecting fishermen. The Vietnamese Fisheries Surveillance Force has become a "Fulcrum at the crest of the wave", ensuring that fishermen can confidently venture out to sea, operate safely and legally, and protect the sacred sovereignty of the country's seas and islands.
