VTV.vn - The Lion Dance Festival of Tay and Nung ethnic groups in Lang Son wrapped up on October 21 with one first, one second and one third prize being presented to the best teams.

The festival attracted 160 performers with a total of 10 teams from districts across Lang Son Province.

According to Director of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Phuc Ha, the lion dance of the Tay and Nung ethnic groups in Lang Son Province is a unique social and religious practice featuring indigenous cultural characteristics of the two tribes.

The Tay and Nung ethnic groups believe that the lion is a symbol of prosperity, happiness and blessings. Wherever the lion goes, he brings happiness, prosperity and joy.

The lion dance of the Tay and Nung ethnic groups is an art form combining music, dance movements, martial arts, and cultural and religious values.

The dance was recognised as a national intangible cultural heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in 2017.
