VTV.vn - The excavation of Kinh Thien Palace in 2016 continues to demonstrate the variety and complexity of the relics within the main area of the palace. This is the conclusion that was made at a scientific conference yesterday.

Continuing the results of the excavations in 2015, this year's excavations have clarified the architecture southwest of the main area of Kinh Thien Palace that date back to the Later Le dynasty early period and Later Le dynasty warlord period in the 15th to 18th century.

The highlight of the excavation were the relics of the large-scale water systems, contributing to the study of Ly Dynasty's planning in the centre of the royal city.

Kinh Thien Palace is the most important building in the Thang Long Royal citadel, which was recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 2000. It sits in the centre of the complex, facing Doan Mon and the Flag Tower.
