Lam Dong province evacuates residents due to landslide risks at reservoirs

VTV.vn - Due to the current complicated rain and flooding situation in Lâm Đồng Province, 74 dams and reservoirs in this Central Highlands locality have been assessed as having a high risk of landslides.

In response, relevant districts have taken immediate measures to ensure the safety of people. These include directing overflow from the reservoirs downstream, clearing the drainage system to deal with rainwater, and evacuating residents near the reservoirs to safety. Local functional forces have also mobilized teams to be on duty all day at irrigation works across the province.

Heavy rains cause flooding in Morthern localities

The Northern region is still experiencing heavy rains, which have caused floods and landslides in many areas. Daily precipitation is still expected to range from 20 to 60mm, with some places receiving over 100mm.

Amid prolonged heavy rain causing continuous landslides in the Central Highlands provinces, the Prime Minister issued a telegram on flood damage mitigation.

The Prime Minister requested local authorities in the Central Highlands to continue deploying forces to immediately review areas at risk of landslides. The Prime Minister also urged relevant ministries to urgently inspect and direct natural disaster prevention and recovery efforts to mitigate the damage in the Central Highlands region.
