The event drew a wide range of Vietnamese intellectuals, entrepreneurs, students and young people living, studying and working across Japan.
Organised under the auspices of the Vietnamese Consulate General in coordination with Vietnamese associations in Kyushu, the forum underscored the role of diplomatic missions in connecting overseas communities. It also marked the 95th anniversary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (March 26, 1931–2026).
Speaking at the event, Consul General Trinh Thi Mai Phuong emphasised the central role of youth in Viet Nam’s next phase of development, describing them as a leading force in driving innovation and national progress. She also highlighted the close cooperation between the Vietnamese community in Kyushu and the Consulate as a key foundation for fostering connections and mobilising overseas intellectual resources.
Over more than three hours, the forum featured three thematic sessions: science, technology and innovation; international integration and entrepreneurship; and Vietnamese culture and language preservation. Discussions aligned closely with Viet Nam’s strategic priorities, including digital transformation, innovation and cultural development.
Participants stressed the important role of young overseas Vietnamese as "people’s ambassadors", helping to promote the country’s image, culture and achievements abroad while strengthening ties with host nations. The forum also provided a platform for sharing ideas, experiences and aspirations, with contributions aimed at translating knowledge into practical action.
Key recommendations included enhancing technology diplomacy, developing ecosystems to attract high-quality talent from abroad, improving support mechanisms for overseas Vietnamese investment and business activities, and expanding Vietnamese language and cultural programmes globally.
The forum attracted strong engagement, with numerous questions raised, reflecting young people’s deep interest in national development issues. More than a networking event, it marked a concrete step in harnessing the potential of overseas Vietnamese youth for the country’s advancement in a new era.
