Key Programs to Mark the 80th Anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army on VTV

VTV.vn - To celebrate the 80th Anniversary of the Founding of the Vietnam People’s Army, Vietnam Television (VTV) has produced a series of key programs to be broadcast on various platforms, including television and digital channels.

During a press conference held this afternoon (December 16) at VTV, chaired by Mr. Do Thanh Hai, Deputy General Director of VTV, the event featured notable attendees, including journalist Bui Hong Phuc (Deputy Head of the News and Current Affairs Department), journalist Nguyen Thu Ha (Deputy Director of the Digital Content Production and Development Center), Mr. Le Manh (Acting Director of the Television Film Center), People’s Artist Nguyen Hoang Lam (Deputy Director of the Documentary Center), journalist Bui Thu Thuy (Acting Head of the Entertainment Programs Division), and journalist Lai Bac Hai Dang (Deputy Head of the Entertainment Programs Division). Representatives from the Propaganda and Training Department included Colonel Tran Nam Cuong (Head of the Propaganda Division), Lieutenant Colonel Pham Ngoc Ha Le (Deputy Head of the Cultural and Artistic Division), and Mr. Le Hai Long (Standing Vice President of the National Youth Council).

Highlighted Broadcast Programs  

One of the most prominent programs commemorating the 80th anniversary is the historical art performance The Historical Path, airing live at 8:10 PM on December 21, 2024, on VTV1. Divided into three chapters—The Path to Independence, The Path to Reunification, and The Path to a New Era—the program features meticulously crafted music videos, performances, animations, reports, and discussions, portraying the Vietnam People’s Army’s 80-year journey of growth, heroism, and triumph.

The Historical Path prominently features the recurring presence of the character Hong, inspired by a real-life  figure  described  in General Vo Nguyen Giap's   memoir “From the People, We Rise” . This journey is brought to life through immersive performances and animated reenactments, including The First Battle Must Be Won, a reenactment  of the initial battle; Wherever the Enemy Is, We March, capturing the triumphant spirit of the Dien Bien Phu victory; The Epic on the Sea, celebrating the legendary maritime route of the unnumbered ships; and The Command of the Heart, portraying the image of Uncle Ho’s soldiers, who shared the hardships of peace alongside the people.  The program features renowned artists such as People's Artist Quang Tho, People's Artist Ta Minh Tam, Pham Thu Ha, Duc Tuan, and Thu Thuy, along with the Army Theater Choir, the Military Band, the Symphony Orchestra, and thousands of soldiers.  

With the intention of telling  touching and meaningful stories about Uncle Ho’s soldiers over the 80-year journey, Vietnam Television (VTV) has undertaken extensive preparations over a long period. Significant investments have been made in various forms of programming, including shows, films, events, and competitions across VTV’s platforms.

One outstanding  production is VTV’s documentary Cha con nguoi linh (Father and Son Soldier). This documentary delves into the lives of military families across generations—senior commanders, wartime leaders, and ordinary soldiers—illustrating Vietnam’s military legacy from 1944 to 2024. The narrative underscores the Vietnam People’s Army as a symbolic family within the broader Vietnamese nation, bound by a proud tradition of patriotism.  

To bring a rich and appealing feature, Vietnam Television has scheduled the broadcast of the film Red Dawn, which tells the story of the heroic achievements and brave fighting of the first female driver platoon on the Truong Son road.

After 10 episodes, the television series Timeless has captivated  viewers with its story of soldiers from two generations. Whether  in times of war or peace, they have been forged in the harsh years to live and fight for the people. Among them, the character Lieutenant Dai, played by actor Manh Truong, along with other roles of peacetime soldiers, has touched the hearts of viewers through emotional scenes of saving civilians in flood disasters.

Throughout the media coverage of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army on VTV, a series of reports were made in the News programs, such as "Uncle Ho’s Soldiers" in the Good Morning program, the special feature "80 Years of the Vietnam People's Army" in the 19h News, and the segment "Pride of the Vietnam People's Army" in 24h Motion.

Images of soldiers of the Vietnam People's Army appear in various programs with unique colors on VTV3. The Seven Blue Notes bring the warm family atmosphere of military families playing and singing together. The Military Region No. 1 program on VTV3 is a place where soldiers showcase their strength and unique beauty in overcoming challenges and winning each round of competition.

In times of war and peace, soldiers always stand side by side, sharing and caring for the lives of the people. Vietnam Television (VTV) has produced the documentary Living in the Heart of the People, which airs in the national language on VTV5. Living in the Heart of the People represents the identity and sacred mission of the Vietnam People's Army, affirming that our army is always steadfast, loyal, and fully  committed to the goal and ideals of fighting and sacrificing for the people.

VTV8 presents a series of documentaries to the audience, including Truong Son in Our Hearts, Unhealable Wounds, Victory at Binh Gia, Along the Same River, and The Day We Return, as well as the art program Truong Son East Calls, Truong Son West – The Sky of Bomb Craters.

On VTV9, there are many interesting entertainment programs: X-show brings exciting challenges like Experience Being a Special Soldier, the music program Song Beside the Hammock, and the talk show Wonderful Marriages, which shares emotional stories about veterans and the parents of today’s soldiers. Additionally, there are political programs, special features, and a newly produced documentary series D Zone – The Birthplace of Legends.

Along with news reports, special features, and programs reflecting events in Military Region 9, a highlight on VTV Can Tho is the cai luong play, Dong Chi. This work praises the exemplary efforts of former soldiers in rebuilding their homeland, strongly combating corruption, and contributing to educating the youth about the glorious traditions of our soldiers and people.

I Love Uncle Soldier Contest Works

Strongly Spreading on Digital Platforms

Along with the programs on TV channels, Vietnam Television (VTV) has launched a special project on digital platforms with the theme "Glory to the Heroic Vietnam People's Army". This includes a series of programs called Heroes of the 20th Century. In addition, the drawing contest I Love Uncle Soldier has attracted many children to participate. Eighty  selected drawings will be showcased along with 100 children in the segment "I Love Uncle Soldier" as part of the "The Historical Path" program.

Utilizing various formats and investing carefully in both content and creative presentation ideas, VTV's major events and programs on multiple platforms to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Vietnam People's Army pay tribute to the heroic military force, which lives up to the praise of President Ho Chi Minh: "Our army is loyal to the Party, devoted to the people, ready to fight and sacrifice for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland, for socialism.  Every  mission is accomplished, every difficulty is overcome, and everyenemy is defeated".

At a press conference, Mr. Do Thanh Hai, Deputy General Director of VTV, shared that from the beginning of 2024, VTV had developed an overall plan to implement activities to publicize key events of the year, including the milestone of the 80th Anniversary of the Vietnam People's Army. The public relations content has been developed in a variety of formats across the broadcasting system, digital platforms, and the network's press products.

In particular, the programs aired to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Vietnam People's Army have left a deep impression, reflecting the spirit and dedication of the Vietnam People's Army. Through the programs and works produced, VTV's reporters and editors aim to express respect and gratitude towards the generations of soldiers who have contributed to making the glorious history of the country. It is also  an opportunity to pass on  the spirit and indomitable will of the army to the younger generation,  thus helping to spread patriotic feelings and national pride.
