Party leader Trong met with the Chairman of the Japan External Trade Organisation, JETRO, Ishige Hiroyuki. The party chief shared his hopes that JETRO would continue to support Japanese businesses in investing in Vietnam’s agriculture and industry sectors, while creating opportunities for Vietnamese agro-forestry and aquaculture products to be sold in Japan. Chairman Hiroyuki stressed that JETRO highly values economic co-operation with Vietnam. Of the organisation’s 10 offices in the ASEAN region, 2 are located in Vietnam. 70% of Japanese businesses that JETRO surveyed have expressed a desire to promote long-term trade and investment in Vietnam.
Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong also met with leaders of Sumitomo, Misubishi, Taisei, and Mitsubishi Omiya Hideaki. These major firms already have substantial business interests in Vietnam. The party leader valued their investment which has significantly contributed to Vietnam’s economic development. He asked them to co-operate with Vietnam in promoting the use of new technologies, infrastructure construction, and energy generation. He said that Vietnam would continue to improve its business and investment environment and ensure the economic conditions existed for Japanese short and long term investments.
